Brass Eye is a mini-series spoofing sensationalist news documentaries. It manages to be subtle in its humour while still being utterly confrontational and in-your-face.

It caused a lot of controversy, especially in tabloid press, as it was accused of being immoral, even though its jokes served to highlight how exploitative and manipulative journalism was. Even funnier though, and to further illustrate the point, many of the sketches involved known British celebrities, politicians and other talking heads, who not knowing any better and not bothering to research the subject matter brought up, got shown for the fools they were. Later, of course, they'd claim they were tricked, when it was their fault they wanted some screen time. Memorably enough, one sketch in the Drugs episode led to an MP wanting to pass a bill against it at the House of Parliament, even though the drug never existed. In a sense, the series was essential to satirise the hysteria of modern journalism.

I've found a few full episodes on occasion, so here they are in chronological order: Animals, Drugs, Science, Sex and Decline. I couldn't find it in full, but here's a sketch or two from Crime and the full 2001 Paedophilia Special (Which raised loads of controversy as you might expect) divided in three parts.

Don't worry if you don't recognise the celebrities or politicians; neither do I. The point of their untrustworthiness is made either way. Chris Morris also worked on a similar show called The Day Today a few years beforehand, but I think Brass Eye is better personally.

I'm sure that would be funnier if I was brittish, but I love his attempt at imagination/immersion.

Uhh... what?

Anyways, I felt like he was trying to convince me to get involved with a pyramid scheme.

Warhammer is quintessentially British.

Which is why it's so horrible.

Some of the books are okay, though.

BBC's End Day is a docu-drama which tentatively explores five scientifically credible doomsday scenarios in under an hour.

that's neat.

similar vein from the same site: (bounces you to another one) this is clever, though the whole "sees x amount of ads" fails the so fucking what test pretty badly. (but i have no love for graffitti so i may fail to see the distinction between unwanted eyesores and their unwanted eyesources)

semi-related: i remember when shopdropping was called droplifting - an old tymey way to get fliers for shows and small label comps into stores by "accident." i may be older than i think.

edit: la lakers + anti-drugs + mid 80s rap

Folding T-shirts has never been this AWESOME

I've known about this for a while, but I first got around to actually trying to learn how to do it tonight after I finished putting my dresser together and wanted to put all my shirts away. Normally it takes me 15-30 minutes to fold all the shirts I have, using this method it took less than ten!

Edit: I am retarded and cannot write simple HTML.`

Iraq: The Hidden Story

A documentary by journalist John Snow about the limits of journalism in the country. I'm not one to much care for any of the emotionally-charged commentary, or even most of the footage as it is, but it's an interesting enough feature on the use of and exposition to media that's worth watching on those grounds alone.

Fear and Loathing in Gonzovision

In 1978, the BBC attempted following cheap yankee motherfucker Hunter S. Thompson across the American landscape. This is the result. Allegedly part of the special features on certain DVD printings of Terry Gilliam's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Also the first time the plans for Thompson's funerary cannon were revealed publicly.

Jesus Camp, Brazil just called. It's gonna be a rumble out behind the schoolhouse during recess.

Quote:
in the first seconds of the video, she´s talking (talking??!?!?!) about David (of David and Goliath).

then she screams "wonderful, conselour, strong lord, father of eternity and priiiiiiiiiiiiince of peace!!!
it´s jesus of nazareth!! aleluiah! glory, lord!!
i want you all to repeat with me:
it´s wonderful!
conselour!
strong lord!
father of eternity!
and priiiiiinceeee of peeeeeaaaaaaaceeeee!!!

another time!!
wonderful!
conselour!
strong lord!
father of eternity!
and priiiiiinceeee of peeeeeaaaaaaaceeeee!!!!!

aleluiah
glory to the lord"

and then she starts to scream about people being able to defeat satan, passing over his head, fidelity to your wife / husband, fidelity to the money you give to the church, etc.

about 2:34 minutes of video - "and the last thing i´m gonna tell you to end this thing is that now god called Noemi (???) and said 'Noemi, get back home. get back to the father´s home / house. cause i´m gonna give you abundance. you won´t be hungry anymore. you won´t be thirsty anymore. cause i´m
gonna take you in my arms just like a chicken take her little baby birds'" etc...

This guy is an epic comedian if I've ever seen one.

No offence intended, but it's ever so rare to encounter an American with such a massive sense of sarcasm and irony in the realms of black humour.

Start your way from the first and work your way up.

Fuck me in reverse, they're doing a Harlan Ellison movie.

Also, the music video for Nine Inch Nails' Survivalism has been "leaked". I've uploaded it to GoogleVideo.

Surprisingly enough, contains topless Asians, gay sex and Trent wearing a cheich.

So far, I've found it to be the weakest track from the leaked ones. I'm not surprised it's used as a single.

simplicio, I don't know what you're on about.

I actually like the video somewhat. The only thing that struck me as ridiculous was the scarf, so often associated with facile socialist "revolutionaries".

TELL ME YOU DON'T.

(Actually I have no idea if you do or not, but you should! It's pretty good. Though I think the stuff he wrote at Amazon is more interesting, if only because you get a nice picture of a guy who has hit the Java wall and is looking for a better way.)

A Bill Burroughs documentary, circa 1984.

Dodgy quality, but fine viewing regardless.

EDIT: Story trailer for the upcoming The Darkness game by Starbreeze Studios.
