oh hell! I forgot about this thread. This goes here then:

So hey, I hear it's advised that, while under the influence of beer and glee at finding a copy of Tactics Ogre at an absurdly reasonable price, you double check that it's actually Tactics Ogre and not Ogre Battle, which you already have a copy of, before hitting that Buy It Now! button. And if I used emoticons I'd insert that little squinty one, right about here.

Rather than try to sell it back, I'm thinking. This not only a classic, innovative (and unmatched) game in its own right; it's also, in my mind, a sort of a spiritual predecessor for the upcoming FF12, which may be the first interesting Final Fantasy in over a decade. If there's anyone around here who hasn't had the chance to play it and would like to bookend the Matsuno experience, tell me about it and I'll send you my extra. The stipulation here is that I'd appreciate it if, rather than selling it on ebay when you finish, you send it to someone else in the community or back to me.

Also, if you'd like to write a TGQ article in some way involving it, say so and I'll give you priority.

I found Ogre Battle 64 the other day. It's pretty good! I still don't own a copy of the precious original, but I don't have many games I'm willing to part with.

I guess I can put the following up for grabs for whoever:
Metroid Prime 2
Yoshi's Touch & Go
Jak II
Astro Boy: Omega Factor

I probably left one or two of those at home, but I'm sure a family member could send.

Was Ogre Battle actually fun? I mean, for someone who has played more recent SRPGs? I never got into it, and so I sold the SNES version and gave away the PSX one. I would say I hope I don't regret this, but I'm not really a collector* and I could always emulate them if I really wanted to try them again.

Is this as bad as people say? I'm often tempted to try it. Maybe if I got it in a trade it wouldn't matter if I didn't like it. I'll have to put together an updated list of things I have for trade. I finally got all of my consoles and games moved. I even found a few shrinkwrapped 2600 and Turbo Grafx games.

Greatsaintlouis--sorry I never got back to you about House of Leaves. I'm still willing to trade it. I just wasn't looking for anything in particular and then forgot about it. I'll still have to think about what I'm looking for, though.

* More specifically, I don't keep games around that I don't think I'll ever play. But I do keep games I like but will probably never play again.

While I couldn't deal with it long enough to find out how much I hated it, I hear that there is one level in the game that is absolutly amazing, and while it doesn't even come close to making up for how poor most of the rest of it is, it has been stated to be "worth it" by some fans.

So, there's always that if your really interested.

Hey, no worries, I figured you must have just forgot. Sadly (well, for you at least), I finally came across a used copy of House of Leaves in a bookstore last week; I just finished it tonight. It's... well, pretty awesome is the easiest and shortest way to describe it. Sorry I couldn't have taken your copy off of your hands, though!

See, I've wouldn't even know what to compare it too. It's exceptionally deep and slow, without any of the digital instant gratification found in most TRPGs. It's also so unique that it's aged exceptionally; where the battle systems tend to make the other Matsuno games (and their knock-offs) blend together, Ogre Battle feels just as otherworldly and nearly arcane as it did ten years ago. It's one of my favorite games, but it's definitely not for everyone. I also don't know if I'd categorize it as fun.

I wouldn't mind that copy of We <3 Katamari, but I can't think of anything off the top of my head I would be able to trade for it and I'm running a bit low on money right now.

Sometimes when I'm in a store and see an inexpensive copy of a game that's really excellent but that I already own, I'm tempted to buy it for no reason--I might even go so far as to consider the ideas of loaners and emergency backup copies. I feel that way now about the first four items on dessgeega's list.

Oh, and is anyone looking for Wild Arms 4 or Dark Cloud 2? I currently have both but don't want them. I'm the original owner of both and have played them only a few minutes each.

I really, really want a copy of Daytona USA on the Saturn. The regular Daytona, not the Championship Edition or whatever (I have that one).

I'm also looking for the US versions of Torneko and Guilty Gear and the Japanese version of Policenauts, both on PS1, and any of the Nekketsu Kohua Kunio-Kun titles, or the americanized versions of them (except Renegade).

I'd have to double-check once I'm at home, but I'm almost positive I've got that. (Mobygames backs me up.) Just a loose disc, though -- it was thrown in the box with my thrift store Saturn. I have no desire to ever play it again. (I throw it in my CD player sometimes, though. ROOOLLLL-LIIIING STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAART)

If you're interested, I will happily take absolutely anything else for the Saturn in exchange. Hell, I will happily take nearly anything else for any system in exchange, but I'd like Saturn games in particular because Daytona is the only Saturn game I've actually got. I really need to chip that fucker.

I'm getting to the point in my collection where I've almost weeded out all of the valuable things that I'd bear to part with, so I'm not sure what interest, if any, the things I have left will hold. Then again, there's some saying about one man's trash...

Of course, if anyone else is interested in any of this stuff, feel free to let me know.

Raiden Trad (Genesis; game, box, and instructions)
The Lost Vikings (Genesis; loose cart)
Strider (Genesis; loose cart)
Super Street Fighter 2 (Genesis; loose cart)
Street Fighter Alpha 2 (SNES, loose cart)
Bomberman (N-Gage, complete)

CD game are complete unless otherwise noted.

Space Channel 5 (Dreamcast, US)
Capcom Generations Volume 3 (Saturn, JP)
The Night Warriors (Saturn, CD-only, US)
Hexen (Saturn, US)

ok, i was at my parents' this weekend and found my old stash of awful dos games. some myst clones here, i think. i'll investigate more, but for now here's a list (which is in addition to the list i made earlier). these are all disk only:

spaceship warlock
ultima I-IV series (note that this isn't the more-recently released 1-9 collection, and it has no manuals on disk)
the 7th guest (2 disks - i may be able to track down a manual and booklet or something)
KILLER DEMO CD VOL. 1
jetfighter II
spear of destiny
LUCASARTS SUPER SAMPLER (demos of full throttle, dark forces, tie fighter, rebel assault II, and the dig!)
classic spectre VR
quantum gate
the 11th hour: the sequel to the 7th guest (4 disks, but housed in the admittedly cool case they originally came with)
monty python and the quest for the holy grail

most of these were never even played, nor do i know where they come from, for the most part. if i didn't have to go to work in a few minutes i'd elaborate and see what's on these cds.

So all I could find yesterday that I'm willing to trade Saturn-wise are Soviet Strike and Bug!. I know I have more games somewhere, so I'll look for them.

Also, I have Rygar on PS2. I've only played it once, and I'm willing to trade it.

So does anybody want any of these?:

Mario Kart DS
Brain Age
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

NES Classics Collection Metroid for GBA
A Link to the Past for GBA

I bought all of these new and still have all the stuff that came with them.

I suppose I'm looking for anything for the Gamecube, PS2, DS or GBA that I don't have and is worth playing.

I'd be up for just about anything. It's just the game disc (I think I mentioned that before), so I'm not expecting too much in trade. I'm specifically looking for Luigi's Mansion or Space Invaders DS, but I'll entertain any worthwhile PS2/PSX/Saturn/Dreamcast/Genesis/GBA/SNES/N64/GB/GBC/NGPC/TG16/MSX/NES titles you might have!

Just now saw this!

When the game came out, the first shipment to Wal-Mart included an exclusive e-card with an unlockable level that was only ever released through that specific card.

I'm so pissed that the full set of e-cards didn't end up getting released. There are new Super Mario Bros. 3 levels trapped on that cartridge that will never find their way out!

i also have a ton of other e-reader cards. mostly animal crossing, but there's some of the nes games and other junk in there. and the e-reader itself.

I got copies of Frogger: Ancient Shadow on PS2 and Yu-Gi-Oh Double Pack on GBA sent to me from some guy at Hudson Soft yesterday. I'm probably not going to play them, and they also sent me the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Double Pack on GBA which I am playing, but if anyone wants them I'd be willing to trade them out.

Yes, yes, and yes. Anything in particular you're looking for? I have quite a few items here. I can send you a list via PM, if you wish. And I've sent items to several people here, so there are referenes as well.

So I went through my game collection the other day and found the following items which I'm putting up for trade. I'll take pretty much anything as long as it's a fair trade, and, as of right now, I'm looking for anything Sega-related (especially during the early Saturn era) and the PS1 version of Policenauts.

PS2
Rygar
Resident Evil: Code Veronica X
Space Channel 5: Special Edition
Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution (not in it's original case)

Xbox
DOA: Extreme Beach Volleyball (not in it's original case)

Saturn
(None of these in original case)
Daytona USA: Championship Circut Edition
Myst
Soviet Strike
Battle Arena Toshinden Remix
NHL 97
Die Hard Trilogy

NES
Elevator Action (just the cart, nothing else)

Why the hell are you getting rid of these? That Space Channel 5:SE is one of the greatest collections of games on the PS2. VF4:Evo is a little more understandable, but still.

I just couldn't really get into it. I enjoyed it a bit, but I know there's probably another game out there someone else has that I'll enjoy more and there's probably someone out there who will enjoy it more than I did.

Die Hard Trilogy isn't anything like the arcade game that I inexplicably love, is it?

What the hell, I'll take it anyway.

Sadly, no it's not. That would be Dynamite Deka in Japan. It just got a Sega Ages release on the PS2 and Dynamite Deka 2 is on the DC, and it's great.

It's nothing similar. It's 3 games in one - a beat-em-up thing that I didn't spend too much time with, a driving game, and a light-gun game.

I shall PM you later with more information and such.

List update!

Metroid Prime 2
Yoshi's Touch & Go
Jak II
Astro Boy: Omega Factor
Metroid: Zero Mission
Phantasy Star Collection (Yes with the horrible save glitch)
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

And Contact when I finish it probably. It will be a while because it's hard to slog through.

Hey dess, you got anything besides those games you listed further up the page? I've pretty much done with all of those myself.
