Depends on how much control they decide to take over their purchase. If they take over completely it might actually end up being a good thing. Eidos is known for releasing games that could be good but can't be because they don't give the developers the time they need to make a great game. Squenix makes games that couldn't possibly be good, but gives them the time and money they need to create really shiny pieces of shit.
Assuming the people making Deus Ex 3 are actually talented it now has the potential to end up being something really special.

I don't think this will happen. Square-Enix did buy Eidos for their IP, but my guess would be that it was mainly because they've been wanting to break into development in the East for a long time now (Secret of Evermore was made here and the Final Fantasy movie was done primarily in Hawaii) and it's easier to do so using established IP than to start from scratch and try to create a hit franchise.
I realize that the words used in this post (IP and franchise) are offensive to most, but if anyone understands games in such terms it's the creator's of Final Fantasy XIII: The Cell-phone-exclusive sequel spinoff starring characters from this one town you visit for ten minutes in this one quest.
I could easily be wrong though!

Oh, Illusion. Thanks to IC I've managed to keep tabs on them since around high school. I've never actually played their games, it's just. . . Battle Raper. God damn. _________________

i actually threw my slippers at the tv on monday after listening to some woman on one of the "newsmagazine" shows do a boo hoo about how she got fucked over on a mortgage BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T READ THE CONTRACT.
so thankfully her congresscritter is telling her constituents to squat in their own homes because...well...because...well...because...well...
and that's why i threw my shoe. _________________

I don't know man, have you ever read these contracts? They're terribly written and intentionally confusing. To top it off the people trying to get your money will flat out lie to you about what things mean if you ask.
Not that I'm justifying this, but I'm just saying these things are written to trick people, even the ones that do read it. _________________ “The average man has a secret desire to be a swaggering, drunken, fighting, raping swashbuckler.”

they're written to avoid lawsuits and give the sellers as much room to maneuver as possible. that's why people hire attorneys before they sign stuff like this. you don't ask the guy selling you something what something means unless you enjoy being dry humped.
she also flat out admitted she didn't read the contract. i'm not a huge fan of legalese at all, but...like...you have to read this stuff. it's like not strapping on your parachute before skydiving. it's probably a pain in the ass to strap that thing on it's still the right thing to do. _________________

i read a reviewer copy a few months back.
rushkoff's flight to economic nihilism is interesting because i've been following him for years, but his overall view is mostly wrong and often silly as hell. which is unfortunate because he's a very smart guy and i'm with him about decoupling and decentralization. i hope he's able to continue to turn away from his web 1.0 media guru personality into this naomi klein who reads books version.
f the world wants apocalyptic narratives - and lord knows people do, especially his primary market - i'd rather they come from someone who at least knows what a footnote is. it's like the difference between stephen carter and ann coulter.
edit: for example, the entire notion of a "real economy" is fucking ridiculous, particularly for someone who has made his living and his reputation from producing very unreal (i.e. non-corporeal) things. however, it's very popular in all sorts of decentralist narratives, and so it shows up in libertarian, anarchist, new new left, localist and related thought. _________________
