so what exactly does one need to convince a computer and a wii remote to play together?
let's say HYPOTHETICALLY that i'm about to release a mouse-driven game, and i'd be neat if i could say the game is compatible with the wii remote. has anyone played around with wii remote input? _________________

pretty much something like this, then just figure out how to get your Wiimote and PC to talk back and forth. The dongle will allow them to communicate with each other. Also, you can play HL2 on your PC with a Wiimote then too. And make lightsabre sounds! _________________ “The average man has a secret desire to be a swaggering, drunken, fighting, raping swashbuckler.”

I believe the standard "Wii remote input -> software control" software for Windows is GlovePIE. |

And you've been waiting THIS LONG to test it? _________________ “The average man has a secret desire to be a swaggering, drunken, fighting, raping swashbuckler.”

Are you Jewish? Because according to the documentation, you're not allowed to use Glovepie until your people get out of Palestine.
I'm really glad the programmer wrote that capitulation into his readme file. Peace in the middle east can only be around the corner! |

The guy in the video is using Vista and you're not?
Upon further research, maybe you should try WiinRemote. |

You should make sure the Cursor option is set to "IR Sensor" rather than "Motion Sensor", I think. If you already did that, I don't know. |

My IDEA (this has a huge potential for failure, but meh, whatever) is to make a background image that looks like this:
Then hide as much of your desktop icons as you can (and play in a darkened room if this isn't enough). Then just calibrate your wiiMote like normal. You can test this theory using your Wii+TV and just aim it at the monitor to test it, but it SHOULD work based on my highly scientific research I've conducted and the mathematical equations I've deduced.
Now, just boot up your game with this as the back ground and see if you can make it fly.
My original idea for you was to have a fullscreen mode of your game titled like "WII PLAY MODE" or something else which is totally original and even more awesome, but it would end up looking like this:
(sorry about the stretching, I'm just using MS paint for these mockups.)
White (however) may not work as well as another more IR like color. Mess around with it. _________________ “The average man has a secret desire to be a swaggering, drunken, fighting, raping swashbuckler.”
