Soooo! The Spore Creature Creator comes out today in stores. You can download a full-featured demo with 25% of the parts for free from www.spore.com. It's AMAZING! I love it. It makes creating wacky creatures incredibly easy and fun.
So download it and post your creations and talk about how cool Spore is going to be. My Spore account name is SuperWes

I haven't checked it out myself yet (running out of bandwidth) but have been watching what other people create pretty closely. Lots of fun little creatures out there.
And even more juvenile ones!
The Youtube videos are starting to get more complex. _________________

Gaah, that's horrible! I wonder if I would have found it as horrible if I didn't work a job where I spend 6 hours a day surrounded by children.
I'm going to download that program when I get home. Looks ace!
I anticipate that whatever I make will be pretty dumb, though. Speaking as someone who remembers her Toribash replays, I would like Dessgeega to have a go |

Woo! This is great fun.
For those who didn't know, you can go to your My Spore Creations\Creatures folder, take the png files there, and send them to people or put them on the internet. People can then download them, put them in their Creatures folder, and use the creatures themselves! All the metadata is written into the png. It's fucking ingenious.
Here are some of my creations! You can save the png's to your folder to play with them if you like.

Pomble? The orange one? Or perhaps you mean the one next to it, Schlongie.
See him in a movie! _________________

oh yes, the fifth one. i can't count, apparently!
RPS have a lovely round up of some of the best NSFW ones:
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/?p=1947#more-1947
These are all a good laugh but now I'm wanting to see some impressive SFW ones. Ones that show what Spore can do, apart from making penis monsters.
Also, I have to wonder how all this NSFW stuff will effect the game... like the ESRB rating. _________________

It's weird how the first thing we try to render in any new form of artistic expression is always a penis. |

Yeah, I considered changing 'weird' to 'funny'.
So Spore doesn't even run on my computer, which I kind of suspected. Boo. |

Peter Molynuex has never known the touch of a lover's hand. It looks a lot more fun than his stuff. Like, a lot less emphasis on resource management and other boring crap. |

I keep trying to execute concepts and failing.
I should maybe just resort to recreating D&D monsters and pokemon. _________________

Protip: Use Mouse wheel to resize.
I can't figure out how to rotate the body base easily. I was able to do so by creating more spine bone, then moving the extra spine bone, then removing the extra spine bone, then making more, moving it, and deleting it. It sucked, but it worked! Is there a button you can press to get it to work.

Yeah, I found out about the mousewheel thing. I think my problem is I keep trying to actually make insects or plants or whatever, rather than the inverse - approximating something fun with what parts they give you.
edit: I HAVE MADE FUN
The middle one is the first of this batch, and it's kind of crappy. The others are actually pretty delightful to watch move around... especially the blue one.
edit 2: now featuring: my cat, and an owlbear!

Woah. You can drag these dudes straight from firefox into the game and they appear in your creator. Insane!

You can grab vertebrae and pull them around to rotate the body, and use the mousewheel up and down to resize individual vertebrae to resize that body "segment".
It's pretty awesome!
PS: two more monster manual creations, and an experiment in bugging out the skeleton.

That really is awesome. Before I read your post I saw the pngs and I was thinking how neat it was for it to generate an icon of each creature, but the fact that that is the creature itself is so awesome. |

Hahh you have some really neat creatures. The other day I made a flying mantis type of creature with claws and a pincer. Spore is gonna be a really addictive game. |

Have any of you played Graffiti Kingdom?

The thing about Spore is the bar hasn't really been set very high for these sorts of games in the past. So long as it isn't possible for a paedophile with a metal roof / a pack of wolves to outwit god, it will at least be better than Black and White. |
