Anyone know a simple, fast way to convert MKV to AVI files?

This one looked best but the post below is probably better.

SUPER should be able to do it, according to their site. There's practically nothing it can't do!

I'll give this a whirl because freeware has fared better than cracked software, in my experience.

Cheers.

No problem. I use SUPER for nearly everything. Stripping audio out of movies, converting movies, it's fantastic. Interface is a bit clunky but hey, it's freeware. The only thing shitty about SUPER is they insist you write it as SUPER.

Whoever designed the website for SUPER really didn't want anyone to be able to download SUPER.

I'm kind of experimenting at the moment, but is it preferable to tick the stream copy option with both video and audio and such? What would you recommend? I'm really not sure how to handle this to essentially get an AVI file that's the same size as the original MKV one without a loss in quality.

So far I manage to get the video file, but no audio, by selecting those options.

Is it possible to use SUPER to clip part out of movies, or to trim them? If you can I haven't worked out how.

.mkv is just a wrapper, right? So what's really going on is you're converting h264 or something equally slow and annoying?

How would I go about checking that? And would that be relevant to my audio troubles?

Understand, I can open these files under Media Player Classic without a hitch, but when I convert them to AVI, all I get is the video.

SUPER © the program is the complete opposite of SUPER © the website, in that whereas it took me about 3 minutes to find the tiny link to download SUPER © I now have the option to run SUPER © when I go to my desktop, my start menu, start>programs, and start>programs>SUPER ©. SUPER © never allows me to forget I have the ability to run SUPER ©.

You didn't need to have it placed everywhere!
