Everyone can fix a 'digg this! button on their internet page or blog post, and the more people who click the button the more it goes up the list on digg.com, which is fast becoming a go-to portal for people looking for the new and happening exciting things.
Is it too late to organise a strike against the guy on youtube who called my video 'banal and trite, like an adolescent having his first deep thought'? and then his own videos are really bad CGI cartoons about data entry in-jokes? The first person to call that guy an asshole becomes my best friend for a week. Seriously. |

it's not your fault.
the video is quite good (i've sent it to some folks i know in nyc who work with motion graphics) but the song itself is fucking terrible.
yes yes i know white rapper = fucking terrible but i like being redundant.
also yeah people say mean things about stuff close to your heart so get used to it.

Yeah, the song is balls. And I like a lot of white rappers! But I was so eager to be able to say 'I directed a music video!!' I took it on. If I'd spent less time on it than I did it might have been worthwhile. Still, all the animation people I'm showing it too are very impressed, so at least it's a good calling card. It looks pretty good on the old CV, too, since I did all the promotion, web design, and sourcing and organising remixers myself.
To be honest I've been cherrypicking the bad feedback for comic effect, some people have been quite kind:

| I tried to imbue the song with a lot more meaning through the visuals, but it's kind of a bit too subtle. It requires Matrix-fan levels of attempting to read meaning into stuff. No-one will ever do that, though, since they will be busy looking at the work of a crosseyed dog, which is better. |

i thought you did well with that, actually.
but yeah the song's inane, but that's political music in general. it gets bumper-sticker-ized by dint of being short form; of course, the shallowness is partly a reflection of the audience. you can't sing along to nuance or depth. there are people out there who seem to get their political views only from songs, as seemed to be the case at that silver mt. zion show, as isfet can attest. good show, though.
