Yeah, wait until Sony puts out a firmware update a week for 4 weeks straight.

Yup, the console was running 1.5 when I bought it... Ninja Gaiden updated the console to 1.7x and yesterday I had to bring it up to 1.9 to download Calling All Cars and flOw. It is kind of an annoying process but I'm glad that they are updating the firmware - it still is kind of weird that, in certain regards, the PSP has more options than the PS3 (i.e. changing the theme colour). My PS3 is in the same room as my computer though, so I just start the process and then ignore the console for a while. So, it is all good.

Sent you a message as of this morning! Does the PS3 show up as being offline when the system is in-game or working on folding@home? It definitely doesn't appear to be a seemless architecture.

superwes is now my friend! SWOON!

I've been playing a good bit of Vegas online, but I think I'm going to dump it for the 360 version.

My PS3 name is WesleyTE add me!

When you're playing a game or folding at home it will tell all of your friends what you're doing/playing. Unless you happen to be playing a PS2 game, then it will just say that you're online.

In a recent firmware update they added image backgrounds. I guess that's a step in the right direction.

I tried to add you yesterday, but I kept getting a "user not found" error. You are positive your username is WesleyTE? I'll try again when I get home from work, in any case!

Folding@Home is so soothing. The image and the humming put me to sleep in no time. I often just leave it on to take a nap. Some call it being lazy, I say I'm sleeping for science.

I finally got my grubby little hands on a Wii. I have 3 Miis loitering around my plaza and my parade is entirely empty.

Code: 2699 9312 4559 6397

I've got well over a page of numbers to enter from the rest of this thread so I'm hoping at least a couple people add me back.

Yeah, it's really irritating when you have to spend a half hour just to use the store so that you can download huge bloated games (usually over 300MB) then after they've downloaded you have to install them... and there's about a hundred user agreement screens inbetween. I've never worked with a more user-unfriendly interface in my life. Because of this I don't really use these features much on the PS3: I don't browse/surf the store because I might be forced into an update, or be interested in a demo that it not worth the hastle of downloading.

Actually I appreciate XBL Marketplace a hell of a lot more after using my PS3. I surf the store quite a bit on MS and they get their advertising in on me. If it weren't for gorgeous PS2 games on my hdtv I would rather sell my PS3. (and mgs4 next year).

Ryan, are we PS3 friends? I never check that shit ;_;

We aren't! I'll have to fix that shortly. I was going through Vegas' online portion when I got the little friend pop-up. Wes is my only friend! Then again, I only know 2-3 people with a PS3, so that's not a bad ratio.

Ryan - is your PS3 username ent_ryan? no capitals?

If so, i sent you a message yesterday i believe

edit: also, /me joins the "haven't turned on the wii in a ridiculously long time" club. i played about 15 minutes of RE4 when it came out, said "ohh, these are some nice controls" then never picked it back up.

oh wait, i did play strikers a bit a few weeks ago but after getting to the final match in the second cup like 5 times and not beating it... i think it is going to sit on the shelf for a while.

Hmmm, I think so. I believe it's ent ryan on the 360 and ent_ryan on the PS3. I don't have my PS3 with me on this trip, so I can't be sure. I can't imagine there are too many people with a similar nickname though - I've never ran into trouble registering it. I have managed to be, at the same time, mundane and confusing. Boo!

Still haven't turned on the system yet eh? Request is still pending.

Did you/are you picking up Lair soon? It comes out today or tomorrow, I believe. I'm debating it...

Actually... I haven't! And, I decided to hold off on Lair. I hear it's really not as good as I expected. I thought it would even be put down because it's "too hard" (which I don't usually consider a bad thing) but it turns out it's just really boring.

I'll pick it up eventually, but not at $60.

Yeah, the fact that it has no multiplayer kind of off puts me a bunch. Although, I haven't read any reviews that actually declared it to be boring.... Really? That is disspointing.

I don't mind games getting low scores for being short (i.e. Game Revolution's new review for Heavenly Sword) - I'd rather a game be too short than too long, as I am generally more inclined to replay a shorter game. But boring? Yeah, that doesn't bode well.

A bonus for the rental industry is that the increase in short games with high MSRPs means that there is little reason to actually purchase these days. Sure, there are a few titles here and there worth replaying, but by and large I would rather rent than buy. $60 for 6-18 hours or $6? Maybe $12 if kept for another week.

Only problem there is that there aren't any stores that actually rent video games where I live. So, seriously, I have yet to ever rent a game.

Oh wow! I feel for you! Although these days I get most of my stuff free, or from goozex, I certainly couldn't game much any other way. The only way I got Beyond the Sword was because Circuit City was selling it for $16. Way back when I worked at a Hollywood Video and was able to check out 3 games at a time. That probably pushed my wage up to $20 an hour. Ah, the joys of having over 25 GTA3s stolen. Golden memories.

Well, if you've played the demo for Heavenly Sword you'd understand that it's getting a low score for more than just length.

And I love short games. There are tons of games that I wish that I could replay on a sunday afternoon, but know it would take a week of sunday afternoons to actually do so.

I didn't bother downloading the demo... What was so bad about it?

edit: as well, in that review... seriously, the ONLY thing they complained about was the length. If that adds anything.

You should download the demo. It's basically like watching a movie: you press 2 buttons but tons of things happen and completely seperate you from the action. There's no challenge at all. It's more like an interactive movie than a game.

Ohhhh.

From the above commercial, it's clear that 'Wii Fit' is meant to be a play on 'Wii Feet', a bit like how the 'rub' in Project Rub and The Rub Rabbits is a play on the similarity between the words 'love' and 'rub' to Japanese people, this being relevant to the game's dual themes of love and rubbing. Obviously these words are nothing alike to native english speakers, which is why they had to rename the game to 'Feel The Magic'.

If they wanted to preserve the pun overseas in this case they'd have to call it Wii Trainer(s).

EDIT: OR WII FEETNESS

I played baseball with my fiancee yesterday. She ended up with both Jesus and the Devil on her team, but I still beat her. The Devil's a wicked third baseman, but Jesus has a hard time covering right field and neither of them hit too well.

here's a reference list. http://gamersquarter.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=63459#63459
