I saw him playing day of defeat on my steam friends list.

I assume this is a good sign!

I saw him playing some TF2 earlier, I have to dumb down the graphics completely in order to make it playable.

luckily I'll be receiving my new video card within the hour.

I also just recently got a Bravia too, the next size down though.

It is really fecking sweet. I was watching The Absolute Power DVD, the latest Manowar DVD and it is completely holy shit.

Isn't it! I'm blown away by this tv. Have you calibrated yours at all yet? I used the Avia DVD and did the basic settings. X-Files Season 3 upconverted and Super Mario Galaxy look pretty ridiculous. I should probably test it with some real HD material.

I have a bravia as well, and blu-ray movies look fantastic. I used the Avia disc some time ago - I love how old it is "If you can, go for S-Video." I know they say you're supposed to adjust and not miss the vivid setting, but I do. Lord help me, I do. Are you worried about distance, though? Isn't your sofa only about 8 feet away from the TV?

I also noticed the Avia disc has a really strange marijuana/crack cocaine reference about a minute in. It was kind of jarring.

Distance? Well I'm about 11 to 13 feet away from the screen on my couch. For me, the TV feels like it's just right at that distance. My old CRT monster was a 57" and the extra 3" I get from this new TV really do make a difference.

This thread is making it look like you took three days to get from one side of the box to the other.

Maybe next week we'll get pictures from the mountaineering party that he'll have to employ in order to get to the aerial jack.

Haha! My wife and I managed to lift the thing and position it on the stand pretty easily. It only weighs 92 lbs. The old monster is about 206 lbs.

Next time thatbox goes by your place, Sir Nixon, I'm going to tag along and be all "Oh wow! Weird! I showed up at this house with an awesomely giant TV and healthy game collection!" Very smooth-like, I assure you.

I had actually brought you some games for letting me drop by when andrew and john were there, but then I saw your Wall o' Games and quickly shoved them behind me. Next time!

My laptop is making a clicking sound. I read on a few forums that the sound is an indicator that the hard drive is having problems. Son of a bitch. I can either spend around $200 on a new one or around $600 on a new laptop. Can the click sound be anything else?

I'm sure it could; however, the hard drive is probably no. 1 though 20 on the probability list though.

I'm gonna be a jerk and ask if you're sure that you don't have anything in your optical drive.

I'd back up anything important immediately, in any case.

Nope, nothing in the optical drive. Some problems started yesterday when I would get an error telling me to make sure the CD Drive was closed when I tried to save something to an SD card. That's never happened before; and there was nothing in the CD drive. Later on, after a reboot or two during normal usage, the SD card slot worked fine but I started to hear a clicking noise. I thought my speakers were up too high, or that, somehow, cursor movement was creating it, but then it started to continue on in longer strings.

I'm anxiously awaiting Shaper's return so he can tell us all his TV is bigger than mine!
Ryan, you did give me a game, I think it was Polarium. Thanks! I remember you had copies of Dead Rising and something else. I already had those.

Final action shot. I peeled off those stickers seconds later.

I'm starting to want to have my collection a little less on display. I think it would make me not feel so rushed at times when I play games. No idea where to put it.

About the hard drive, yea that sounds like the "click of death". I would backup and/or get it replaced ASAP.

Dammit! I might try to sell it for $200-250 with the caveat that it'll need a new hard drive. Stupid Inspiron, damn you and your 6000 incarnations!

Ohhhh ... pretty ... what game is that?

I like that shot because people have been asking me what game it is. It's actually a movie. The Fountain.

How was that movie? Judging by the previews, it seemed like it'd be incredibly boring.

Parts of it aren't bad, but on the whole it's pretty terrible. The ending made me want to kill myself (only because it's terrible, not because it's depressing or anything)!

I think it's a pretty fantastic movie in almost every way. I'm pretty much universally ridiculed for that at work. By people who haven't even seen it.

I like the idea of The Fountain more than I liked The Fountain itself. I like aspects enough to watch it again, but I think I'd max out at three or four viewings.

But seriously, I've been moving/buying/building a lot. And, some other stuff.

My PC is AWESOME and can handle everything (even Crysis on all High-notveryhigh-settings at 30fps+). Though, at this point I'm pretty much limited by the refresh rate of my monitor, which is where I'm noticing all of my little inaccuarcies. HL2/Source tests out at 188.72 fps average at 1680X1050 resolution. TF2 runs as smooth as butter and looks gorgeous.

Quick question: does anyone know why specific textures in the Source engine flicker? It's really bizarre. My guess is that it's because I have an NVDIA card.

Or probably because it's a Source game.

Also, it's good to hear from you again!
