I don't suppose anyone knows where I can find a high-res scan or high-res component illustrations from the Japanese version of Senko no Ronde?

Replace the DVD sleeve and all is peachy, probably!

It's probably not quite large enough for a very clear print out, but THIS IMAGE was the best one I found when I went looking last May.

That's pretty much good enough, I think! Actually! I can screw around with it a bit, if need be.

So there's more than Bionic Commando and SF4 afoot:

http://blogs.capcomusa.com/blogs/news.php/2007/10/19/gamer_s_day_london_2007_coverage

Also Commando 3! And here are some shots of Bionic Commando. Doesn't look too awful in its own right, though it's a bit... not what anyone might have hoped.

It just looks like an adult version of Virtual Fighter Cyber Generation.

It looks sort of beautiful. I like the look of Capcom's current-gen games (Dead Rising, Lost Planet, this). Whatever the combination of renderers they use is, it's got a very nice feel to it. Puts me in mind of Source engine games.

Yeah, it's certainly pretty! If nothing else. I also wonder if it's on the Lost Planet engine. Not sure how Bionic Commandoey it looks; I guess we can wait and see.

I have no hope for Commando 3 because it's being developed by (essentially) Digital Eclipse.

Actually, it's based on... Kunio. The guy who founded Technos. Last name escapes me at the moment.

It looks like it plays the way Spiderman games should play. Or like they've made a whole game based around the grappling hook from Lost Planet, but now it's the grappling hook-zilla.

Welcome to Bartender DS! (I don't think this deserves its own thread)

http://www.dsfanboy.com/2007/08/20/get-refreshed-with-bartender-ds/

So EA's latest release... is a drink mixing game? I guess that could be useful, if you really hate books or something. Who knows, maybe it's actually better than a book, provided that you know a lot of japanese?

Anyway, this game (paraphrased from linked article) sports over 850 complete drink recipes, complete with background information on its history and creation. So I guess the only thing it's good for is a libatiion library. Here's to hoping that it has a mix random drink function!

As an aside, is this sort of thing regular in Japan? Do publishers release these "games" that aren't really meant to be fun so much as useful? Or am I witnessing a potential new phase in the portable gaming industry?

i mean i guess taht could be cool instead of pulling out your bartenders book when someone asks for a drink at a party you flip open your ds and are like *tap tap tap* ah yes

adn then you mix it

maybe the ds will become the electronic how-to book of the future

I have a game called LAST CALL for the mac/pc that is a drink mixing game, and I always thought it would be great to port it to the DS. I guess this is close enough, but it looks like it lacks all ther personality and fun of LAST CALL.

I would have said that the DS is basically impractical as such a device because of all the cart-swapping junk you have to go through. That and the fact that all the software is so expensive.

Will it coms with a motion sensing cart for those drink where you have to close up the DS and shake it? I couldn't imagine a portable drink mixing game without this feature.

SOME BEST BUYS ARE BREAKING THE STREET DATE FOR MARIO GALAXY.

Also, there's an interesting article up at Next-Gen.biz which suggests a lot of Gamecube games were originally designed with the Wii in mind.

Quote:
'The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker - So the eponymous gimmick, around which the game is built, is a wand which you wave around in rhythm, to change the direction of the wind. Ignoring the annoyance of stopping and sitting through a cutscene every time you want to change direction... huh. Curious.'

EDIT: Now that I look at it, that article is by our very own Eric-Jon. Great, now I look like a suck-up.
