I actually don't think it's possible to remove an achivement after you've earned it.
That said, which thread should I be looking in? _________________ “The average man has a secret desire to be a swaggering, drunken, fighting, raping swashbuckler.”

Not entirely sure, myself. I mainly linked to the forum so that people could muck around in there if they wanted. There's a thread about the wipe, that seems to be more about what people are going to do about it.
I imagine that there's some discussion in the 'Official' thread; last I checked, that was 90 or so pages including the aforementioned Yak-Rev silliness, so that's a lot of stuff to go through.
I started playing this last night, I thought for a while that you had to use a Jump Pod to bull enemies off of the rim and was wondering why I was able to bull them even though I hadn't used a Pod. Eventually I figured it out and started to get the feel for the combination of shooting enemies, deflecting bullets and bulling enemies that's necessary for getting a decent score -- even though my score is pitiful, I did notice that in the overall list it's still higher than some folks who got to higher levels than I did.
Dess, you don't show up on my Friends hi-score list. |

Dess, I broke 9mil in the tutorial and I basically botched the entire second, and most of the third section. You should have no problem with getting 10mil. _________________ “The average man has a secret desire to be a swaggering, drunken, fighting, raping swashbuckler.”

I am not very good at this game yet.
Wes is worse than me, though. |

Aerithdead: Here's the weird thing, yeah? I bought a used 360 with a formated drive. I have never been online.
The first CD I ripped was the CD single of "Out of Space"... and it knew what it was called. How is this possible (that is a question for all the internet)? It was offline and shit.
Anyway, it turns out that jumping around the oil rig in Crackdown to early 90s dance tracks gives it a really nice "second series of Gamesmaster" feel. _________________

OK, dumb question but please help me out:
How do I use a custom soundtrack in SG? I've put a CD in the drive but it runs completely independently of the game and the light engine. Do I stream it from a computer or the HDD? If the instructions are there in the menus, I haven't found them. |

If you want you can either: Play the cd from the dashboad and start up SG after you have the CD going.
OR: You can hit the center button on the 360 controller, go down to select music, then select the CD to play. _________________ “The average man has a secret desire to be a swaggering, drunken, fighting, raping swashbuckler.”

Wait, they still haven't wiped the leaderboards? I got my 360 a few weeks after the game came out. I assumed they wiped it only a few days after it was released. That sucks, but I guess it's not like I have some killer score anyway.
Here's another thing that's bugging me. Anyone figure out a decent way to play the very first level? I've been able to get a strategy down for most of the levels afterward (that I've gotten to), but the first one is so damn bland that it seems like all you can do is get a 2 or 3 X multi and move on.
I alternately love and hate the way this game insults you when are rubbish. When it says something nice, you really feel like it's a compliment. |

Can I be perfectly honest here? I actually turn the music down to zero to cut down on the background effects.

As I understand it, there's some glitch that needs fixing that calls for a score reset after it's been applied. So there's a brief period of coding (which has probably been done by now), and then a really long period of Microsoft's QA tests. I think it's typically supposed to take a month or two? |

Semantics here, but it's Microsoft Certification that's taking Yak for a loop. _________________ “The average man has a secret desire to be a swaggering, drunken, fighting, raping swashbuckler.”

damnit, i finally got a decent score (now number 4 on my friends list) this is why i didn't want to play until the boards were cleared, damn you minter, i'll never do that well again >_<
on the plus side, i cleared three achievements in one play which is what i was trying to do. getting a good score was a side-effect! only four achievements to go (i think)
i still think the achievements for this game are PROTIPS in disguise.
also i saw some levels i've never seen before.
most of them made me smile until i started dying lots but hey
that fish-eye one was hilarious it was like WHOA HAHA THIS IS NUTS _________________

Holy crap. The highest one I reached was 26! Admittedly, I did it by continuing. I was just going through to see what the levels were like. I should have stuck with it one further. OK, gotta fire up SG tonight.
What do you guys think about the hit detection of the bullets around the rim? This was bugging me and I've come to find out I'm not the only one. Lots of people have issues with it. But of course Minter just told them to smeg off. Go figure.
I was hoping the patch -- which hit today -- would include a fix for it. Alas that doesn't seem to be true. |

Generally speaking, the multiples of 16 are the ones that up the ante.
dessgeega I don't understand why you would stop playing this beautiful game just because of an impending leaderboard reset |

i had just gotten my highest score on the day they announced the pending score reset. foolishly, i thought the reset would come soon. since i was planning to beat my new score anyway, i would wait until after the scoreboards were wiped.
i didn't realize how long it would take. _________________

so hey, i suddenly don't suck at this game?
i manged to get to level 91 and scored over 160 million, ranked number 20 in the world as of writing.
bit of a bitch that i was so close to doing the long march, but i doubt i would have survived level 100 on my first go. i decided to continue and see the last few levels and man, 100 is a nightmarish paradise! i eventually completed it, at which point the game ends and you're stuck with whatever score you managed to get up to that point. yak also reveals a special secret to you as a reward.
i think my score is a bit shit, really, it should have been higher but it became a struggle to survive and see the next level rather than score the big points. still, i did pretty good for myself, i think.
but anyway, yeah, this game is amazing.
if you think the first 30 or so levels were insane, abrasive or hard to play, you seriously haven't seen nothin' yet.
a think a few certain levels would cause people with weak stomaches to get motion sickness. it was pretty amazing.
this is the first game i have played where i tried spinning my head 360 degrees to keep up with the action.
there was some slowdown even! that's how chaotic it got.
also dess i am sorry.
time to adore my 64.
(you get an achievement for not dying on this level for good reason). _________________

I was at one point the best-ranked Shenmue Space Harrier player in Maine.
I'm not sure how many ranked players there were in Maine, however. _________________

Got back into it a couple days ago. Got pretty much nowhere and still scored No. 276 on the leaderboards. Ha!
Hate to bring this up again, but does anyone else think the hit detection with the bullets around the rim is much more accurate now? |

I'd heard about Super Ox mode, but it's gonna be a while before I ever see it. (Having kids cuts into your videogame time wah wah wah) There's a list of all the words it uses to generate the random level names floating around online somewhere. |

Yah, it's pretty neat... the levels and their names are randomised, and while the number of enemies remain the same, they are faster and fire more bullets. _________________
