ok so we have a samsung ml-2250 black ink laserjet (fucking great, btw, if you have to print lots of docs cause you're hiding a graduate student in your closet or whatever) and it's USB only. when the airport was still alive, if fritzy, for a while my wife could print to it remotely like any normal wireless printer setup.
now we have a wireless dlink that works great (apm, that router will be on its way next week when the pile is cleared out, sorry for the super delay) but has no usb hookup. can i fool the router into thinking the printer is just another ethernet device by getting a usb-->ethernet adapter and plugging it in? i don't want to spend 50 bucks on a print server cause that's lame. _________________

Basically, no. Or yes, if you count a $50 print server in a little box as a "USB->Ethernet adapter".
What's stopping you from just plugging your printer into a computer on your network?
(And I can't complain too much about waiting for a free router! It's a little inconvenient to have only one computer on the Internet at home, and I'm going to have to do some hardcore system cleaning on this Win2k box once it's safely behind NAT again, but, you know, get it to me when you can, right?) |

sigh, that's what i thought.
wife has laptop and its her printer. believe it or not i rarely print anything. and it's a bit too far away from my machine. plus turning on my rig is a rigamarole and she often needs to print stuff when i'm not home.
so, uh, plugging it in it is! or she gets a print server for our anniversary or something. _________________
