I don't want to make a huge ass out of myself today. I have a lazy tongue and a slight Southern drawl, so I'm looking to minimize the embarassment. Also, how would one properly pronounce "Ogasawara"?
I've said Konami as Con-am-e but I've heard Co-nam-e as well. At E3 I heard the reps say it both ways, and wikipedia/answers didn't help much a proper way. _________________ Come to me, Mordel. We shall depart. |

Try "Co-nah-mii". Also "Oh-gah-sah-wah-ra". You know, phonetically. |

And pull the edge of your eyes back with your fingers to aid pronounciation, obviously. _________________ aerisdead |

aye, aye. many thanks. I eve called brandon to confirm, and it's a go! the last name, even after hearing how to pronounce, my tongue refuses to cooperate in saying correctly.
e3 2005 or so, a russian gent and I had a rough time understanding each other, which a freelance rep found hilarious. "he's saying 'car' and he's saying 'cat.' (both) "ooohhhhh!" _________________ Come to me, Mordel. We shall depart. |

dmauro recently pointed out that I've been mispronouncing Gradius incorrectly for the past 20+ years. |

Grade-ius, Graad-ius... Grad-ius? I never said it was wrong, just that I had never heard it pronounced with a short a like that before. |

Well that went decently enough! I didn't have to actually say Konami or Ogasawara. Whew. I think we'll be relegated to website stuff first - which is fine! haha! Be our friend, Konami! _________________ Come to me, Mordel. We shall depart. |

Well, see, I have to correct myself when it comes to Gradius because I've been saying it wrong for 20 years or so too.
The easiest way to think about it is to say it in Japanese, which would be "Gladius" where you would say it with the long a. Then replace the l with the r and you have the proper way to say it.
But yeah, Toups says "Sneeszz" for SNES so it could always be worse. _________________ “The average man has a secret desire to be a swaggering, drunken, fighting, raping swashbuckler.”

Every person who has ever heard him say that now has at least one entry they can make in the "AAARRGGGHHHH" thread.

It does take a while. Just practice it over and over. Saying so many sylables so quickly takes a while to get used to. _________________ Collector of over 1,538 strategy guides. That's weird, right?

i refuse to pronounce gradius the way the announcer in gradius gaiden pronounces it. which is with the emphasis on the "di". my emphasis is on the "gra", and that is where it shall stay. _________________
