As I was playing Zelda Lttp on my DS, I looked up to see the drive slot glowing... And indeed it was the internet channel announcement! Man, I gotta figure out how to zoom in, because the text is mega fucking small.us Side note, 'zelda' is in the Wii's autocomplete dictionary.

Edit from not on my Wii: + and - zoom in and out. That helps, a lot. Everything seems to be nice and fast so far, pretty sweet. Now to go see what this baby can do.

Youtube is officially in the house. Now if only I could forward all the links videos over AIM to my Wii...

Wii Opera wants to auto-fill my user name with "lesbians." This is surprisingly enjoyable!

Now me! Also. It works pretty well, faster than I expected. Would have been more useful in HD! (Though I haven't got such a screen.) But it's a functional alternative for reading articles or looking at sites with other people. Anyone tried wiicade.com yet? Makes me want to develop something for Wii!

Can you make the icon bar at the bottom go away?

EDIT: YouTube videos imbedded in pages like Kotaku.com play fine, as does the Rocky Balboa trailer on the YouTube home page. But when I do a search on YouTube, say for "office gervais," and then click on one of the results, I'm told that my version of Flash isn't current enough to play the video! Likewise, Wiicade has a notice up saying that games built for Flash 8 won't work on the current Wii Opera browser. But are YouTube videos differently encoded? I assumed they'd all be the same.

I've tried Wiicade and I think it works fairly well on TV.

Man, I always have serious problems connecting to the Wii Shop channel. I can connect maybe a third of the time.

Which means no wii-posting yet!

@ ApM

Try changing your wireless router's channel to either 1 or 11

Posting from a computer.

That game is pretty neat! Any other ones worth checking out?

Does anyone else have a problem where the keyboard will suddenly dissapear while typing something and you'll lose all of what you just typed? It's really starting to miss me off.

Also, while using the keyboard, the B button should act as a space button to make typing a little easier.

And there needs to be a way to press "enter" because I tried to talk to Dess using gchat yesterday which works, except I can't send any messages because there is no "send" button or anything!

Other than that, works pretty great.

posting from a computer:

so wii opera isn't bad at all given the limitations of the wiimote, but by the time it goes final it needs a few more features: pageup/pagedown/home/end (faster scrolling) and a clipboard.

the nunchuk is totally unused at the moment and has two buttons and an analog stick. the d-pad on the remote isn't used either. my suggestion: analog stick for fast scrolling, d-pad for precise cursor movement while typing and hilighting text. there really should be some kind of right-click menu.

also, i found that the A button would sometimes "lock up" while playing flash games. similiarly, youtube usually worked but sometimes told me to upgrade flash instead. and the virtual keyboard is difficult to type quickly with, but it's possibly the best option available at the moment? being able to assign individual keystrokes to buttons on the remote would be fabulous, though (and would let me play a lot more flash games).

hey, can you turn off the rumble when the cursor goes over a key? because that's really annoying!

Attempting to read the forums on my fuzzy TV is a bit annoying, but the fact that I'm doing so on my couch is totally sweet. CONFLICT

If I could scroll with the D-pad, it might be better. Zooming is pretty annoying right now, though!

using the number pad with predictive text makes typing on the wii pretty quick. it's not like you're going to write anything substantive in your living room anyways.

Yeah, it seems great at first, but after a few minutes with it you can see that it still needs LOTS of work before it's really usable.
