This looks pretty awesome and was basically made for people like us. It's highly metacultural or some such. It's like an anime that thinks its a videogame. So I guess watch the trailer and talk about how you already knew about this before I showed it to you. |

Its very cluttered visually. I guess it's emulating the visual styles of late 80s/early 90s cg and promo art. |

Yeah
Thankfully if the actual film doesn't have the announcer and doesn't veer into goth territory too much (some of it worried me) it looks quite watchable! _________________

I have a song on the soundtrack, so I think you're going to want to see this. |

Yeah aside from the gothemo thing and the WAYINYOURFACE announcer that looked pretty cool. I like the music a lot anyway. _________________ where were you when nana komatsu got a wii? |

Woah, I was pretty sure that the announcer and the fast-paced cluttered presentation were parts of the trailer and not indicative of the actual film in any way. Why would you assume otherwise? Those would be terrible decisions. |

A girl I quite like pointed me towards this ugly crap with the words 'this to me is beautiful'. That made me

That's why you like it. If a greengrocer saw a trailer for a film about potatoes starring Carrot Top and produced by Cubby Broccoli he'd be like all :D too, even if the film looked like shit to everyone else. That's not to say smarter greengrocers wouldn't know better, though!

The announcer reminds me of Alpha 3.
I'm pretty sure that was intentional. _________________ Wii #: 8749 9109 9732 3653

Uh, because they are in a trailer produced by the maker of the film, which is presumably designed to give an impression of what the actual film is like? _________________ where were you when nana komatsu got a wii? |

Like I said, you're making an assumption. I don't usually assume after seeing movie trailers on television that the film itself will feature a deep voice-over every few seconds making overly dramatic observations about the events I am seeing. Plus, as far as pacing goes, the trailer escalates from calm and peaceful to rapid-fire and chaotic, which is not uncommon for trailers, so again this says nothing about the film itself. |

I don't know, this seems pretty lame, and aesthetically offensive....at the very least, I don't think that it was made for people like me:[ _________________ Straight up |

But if this is the case then how am I to have any idea about what the film is like at all?! I mean maybe the film is all deep voice overs making dramatic events and the calm and peaceful stuff at the beginning was just there to give the trailer more style? _________________ where were you when nana komatsu got a wii? |

Has anyone ever seen the original trailer for The Shining? It's just a still image of the elevator doors of the hotel, with a score behind it. Then the cast and credits appear over it. Finally, at the end of the trailer the doors open in slow-motion and gallons of blood gush out towards the camera. It's powerful stuff.
I was thinking if I ever get to remake Dunston Checks In I'm going to have the trailer be exactly the same, expect replace 'blood' with 'monkey'. |

Well, yeah, Toups, this is kind of an issue with every single movie trailer ever made, but then it's a bit difficult to accurately convey the pacing, mood, and story of a film in 30-60 seconds, so if you come up with a viable solution let us know, okay? |

I'm just saying it's just as rational for me to think this will suck because of gothemo bullshit as it is for you to think it's awesome because it's like LONELY GAME in movie form. _________________ where were you when nana komatsu got a wii? |

I believe I heard this on NPR but I can't remember when and can't link to prove I'm not making this up.
From what I understand, all movie trailers these days are made after maybe 20% of the footage is shot, and almost all of them are contracted out to the exact same ad agency. The director has no control over the trailer, and the trailers are made before the movie is even finished. Therefore movie trailers are horribly not indicative of what the movie will be like (see: Man of the Year).
That said, Save the Green Planet probably has the best movie trailer ever. |

Winamp file of I LIVE! available here
It's not how I remember it.
I was thinking more of something like James Earl Jones on reverb.
