I hope Shaper doesn't mind, please don't ban me for pimping this, I am not actually affiliated to it.

www.videogameauctions.co.uk

It's a cool new auction site, which Im currently testing the water in. I put up an auction, and there is fee for reserve prices, or high starting prices. Plus it's geared towards videogames which makes it easy.

My editor though has used it a lot, for some NeoGeo auctions, and he swears by it.

I've chatted with the guys who run it online, and they're basically hoping for a quiet revolution against eBay and their high fees, and lax attitude to piracy.

The only problem is, USA gamers seem to think that because its in the UK, they aren't allowed to use it. NOT SO!

American gamers are welcomed and encouraged to check it out.

There is a massive thread discussing it over on rllmuk.

Feel free to post this news on LPN, and does anyone else think this is deserving of front page news on Insert Credit? Quick, someone PM Brandon Sheffield!

Anyway, I hope this doesn't sound like advertising, I just dislike eBay a great deal, and have been hoping for something like this for a while.

Why would anyone who is selling something in an online auction do it anywhere but Ebay?

I use ebay as a last resort. I resent people who consider a game that is cart or CD only "new." Almost mint does not mean any thing similar. Unfortunatly the only people on ebay honest about the condition of their games are people from Japan. Most of the time their shipping is too high.

Oh, I'm sorry. When I said "sell something" I meant "sell something" not "buy something." Why would you limit your auction's audience by selling it at a site that will be seen by 1/1000000th the number of people?

Because it's a site especially for gamers. Sure, on ebay, millions can see it, but millions of people don't even know what RSG is, let alone have any interest in buying it. Their target audience is specifically gamers.

Apart from their much lower fees, I resent ebay for suspending me. They suspended me for 6 months for repeatedly selling legitimate Dreamcast import titles. Yet the cads don't ban all those people from Hong Kong selling bootlegs. >_<

I actually put RSG up there, with a reserve which costs nothing, and I don't care how many get to see it. if it doesn't sell, its cost me nothing to list it, and I can always try the bay of fleas later.

Give it a chance man, show it some Big-Super-Wes love. Wink

Really? To someone who will cherish them? That reminds me.

I've been having this re-occuring fantasy, where I become a millionaire, buy £1000'000 worth of incredibly rare and precious games, PD Saga, Earthbound, Kizuna Encounter PAL etc.

Then I get hold of a heavy rockin' metal band, like Guns and Roses, or Maiden, and then I make a heavy metal music video, with awesome music, while in the background all these are slowly destroyed by something. Something like fire probably.

Id then release this music video for free onto the net.

The resulting forum board chaos would be priceless, and Id probably die from ensuing fits of laughter.

Ahem... I had to share that.

Here's something that may interest some of you... it's a blog that highlights interesting videogame related STUFF on eBay. Been some fascinating stuff! Of course, once it's been posted on here, there is little chance of getting it at a good price.
