i want to buy a wii!!
i have an american copy of metroid prime and super mario sunshine in my apartment despite not owning a gamecube. i also have a freeloader (in the case with metroid prime).
i want to buy a japanese wii, and then try to use the freeloader to play the american gamecube games.
so i guess what i'm asking is, can you use the freeloader to play any imported (say, japanese) games on your american wiis? _________________ www.largeprimenumbers.com

You know, I've been wondering the same thing too except about PS2s. Do Japanese players who want to get their game on with a little Madden 2006 or whatever American title of choice use mod chips or swap discs? Do they use the same ones we use?
Maybe we're all just using the same Hong Kong developed technology to play games from our respective countries. Hong Kong, the country that's uniting the world. _________________

Yeah, well, that's what I'm asking -- if it works the one way. Can someone with a Wii and a Freeloader test it? If it works for the American Wii, chances are it'll work for the Japanese one.
Not that it really matters either way. I was just wondering. I felt like playing Metroid Prime again and just thought this would be a good occasion. (Wii comes out here on Saturday, for those who don't know.) _________________ www.largeprimenumbers.com

From what I read on the internet, the Freeloader does work with the Wii.
But the question is: "Does the Freeloader work with a Japanese Wii?"
Answer: "Probably." _________________

I have seen at least two people confirm that Freeloader works with the Wii. |

I think the real question is, would a japanese gamecube allow you to play US games with the free loader? |

I can confirm that Freeloader does work successfully on a US Wii--I used mine to play Shikigami no Shiro II just tonight! Ironically, my Digital-Out-less Gamecube refuses to boot the Freeloader disc.
No clue about Japanese systems, though. I wouldn't see why not, the disc advertises "Play Japanese games on your US system. Play US games on your Japanese system." I wouldn't think Nintendo would go to the trouble of locking out Freeloader in a Japanese Wii while leaving the US console untouched. |

While I'm here, does anyone know if freeloaders work with PAL systems? Because that would be just super! |

When I was in the UK I used a freeloader to play US RE4 on a PAL GC. |

Can an American freeloader buy a Japanese Wii on launch day, though. |

Yes. Hence my owning a Freeloader and US games, for when I was in the presence of a Japanese GC. _________________ www.largeprimenumbers.com
