hey everyone

some people here may recognize me from IC. i've always read TGQ, and have told dhex on a few occasions that i'll probably write something, but then i end up thinking my idea for an article is terrible and i scrap it.

anyway, i've lurked here in the past, but finally decided to join. the Fallout thread was really all the convincing that i needed.

i'm playing through Contact right now and really enjoying it, though it took a little while before it started to be appealing.

i typically play more games than i finish, i really like music, i'm in a band and i'm vegan.

fetch quests are ok sometimes.

i am so far, but sometimes it makes me a little nervous. it's given me little glimpses of something i could potentially hate a lot, but it usually ends up ok.

my life for the last two weeks (and probably until sometime in December) has been pretty much a hellish mix of everything imaginable, and since Halloween falls on a Tuesday this year, i'm planning to go to class and then come home and work.

what are you doing? if it's something totally awesome, maybe i can find a way to convince myself i have free time.

vegan isn't that rough, but you have to be kind of resourceful sometimes.

I was thinking I was going to a Party in Bushwick with some girls. As girls, though, they have yet to get back to me. If they DO, well, I'll have to insist you go also.

Hello there.

I'm Christopher, a 22 year-old near college graduate. I stumbled upon the IC forums about a year ago, and have sporadically been posting asinine things there (and at LPN) whenever I wasn't working on my senior thesis. Now I have to go back and finish all those gen-ed credits I conned my way out of earlier in my college career. At a different university. Because I hate the University of Oregon.

I moved from Eugene, OR to Portland, OR recently. I was born in Portland, raised in Portland, and all but 5 years of my life have been spent inside the city. Two of those were in the Netherlands (Naarden-Bussum), two were in Ashland, OR, the other Eugene. Although that one doesn't count. Fuck Eugene.

I co-edit the fiction department at a Portland area literary magazine, Prose. It hasn't been published yet, but it will be, Q1 2007. Hopefully, I will also be paid for my services -- but I already know that I won't. I mean -- seriously.

I am an aspiring musician and the sole member of the fictional rock group "Stendhal Syndrome," which is a badass name for a rock group. I haven't been playing music very long - about five years - but I spent a lot of time learning a bit of music theory and piano when I was in Eugene. Because I was, you know, alone all the time. Or around morons I hated.

I've been "finnagain," on the other forums -- a name chosen in a fit of Joycean infatuation -- but here I will be "shongo22." It has been my handle since middle school for reasons that I really cannot remember.

Found out about The Gamer's Quarter about three weeks ago and started lurking the forums. Figured I may as well join in the discussion. My name's not really Neal, it's an old throwback to an old friend. Never joined a forum before, not sure what the proper procedure is....

um,

hello?

I've already posted a bit here, so I might as well introduce myself.

My name is Michael, and I'm a student at Vanderbilt University, studying Math and Secondary Education. I had planned for much of my time here to teach Math (and possibly English) in high school, but that's actually up in the air right now. I'll likely go back to school later to get a PhD in Math.

Another avenue that opened up for me is to go to graduate school in an education program and study that. In that regard, I would continue the work I did last year, which involved videogames and thinking/learning methods of different players. In fact, at the end of this week, I'm going to be speaking at the National Council for Teachers of English conference in town about my personal experience with gaming as well as the little bit of research that I've done.

Anywho, this post comes after I've already posted a thread or two on these forums, but hopefully I will start contributing more.

Hi my name is professor_scissors and I am a refugee. Some of you may know me.

It has been some days since I last made a videogame. In a hair over a month I am hosting the Super Game Bakedown, which is the gamer equivalent of NaNoWriMo in January. It is super rad.

Anyone in the world who wants to can participate.
Starting now, you come up with an idea for a videogame, and you plan it out.
Starting on Jan 1st at 12:00:01, you can start making your game.
On Jan 31st at 12:00:00, all work on your game stops.
The goal is to release a 'finished' (subjective!) copy of your game by the end of the month.
No materials can be created in advance or copied from old projects, including code, sound, graphics, or music.
Group Projects are okay, but not really reccomended unless your groups is really ace.
Game Maker, Inform 7, ZZT, MZX, MMF, RPG Maker: All okay! If it makes videogames you can use it.

Website will be opening... soon!

Hi, I'm also a refugee but I'll be sure to adhere to the extant posting climate. I'm also a vegan I'm often indecisive and conflicted, and overly apologetic. I have friends but I'm pretty lonely.

Anyhow, I'm an ancient history major focusing on the Roman republic. After graduating in June I hope to work at a museum and work my way up the chain until I have to go to grad school.

Refugee from IC.

Went under the name of "Clash!", changed it to something better.

The publication is top shelf, so i'll assume that the board will be the same.

Hello; I am the Lord Master of the Insert Credit Refugee Party Line (The Buck Stops Here). I enjoy soft, furry mammals, extremely spicy food, and these photos of you naked. My specialty in abstract conversation is the development of a new form of planned performative narrative in interactive entertainment. I am 23 and have been unemployed ever since I hated being a New Business Specialist at UnitedHealthcare's corporate headquarters in Hartford, CT. I urge you to get in touch with me immediately for any damn reason so we can go out for a silly-looking mocha latte.

Hey guys, another refugee of Insert Credit here. Possibly the only Australian on these forums? Going to Uni next year. Enjoys games. All types.

I also feel Singstar/Buzz/Wario Ware are the greatest games of all time when combined with alcohol. Otherwise, Buzz is pretty average, but Wario Ware is still fun.

I am awaiting my money to build up for I can purchase my Wii. Cannot wait.

It's a news site: www.insertcredit.com

The "refugee" thing is about their forums going down. I recommend that you don't worry about it or you'll end up with a headache probably.

Yea, hi. GcDiaz, yet another "IC refugee". Found that place by way of Tim's DIAER article; found this place by way of...I don't remember. I like inebriated Billiards, and totally plastered Ikaruga. My turn ons are round tits, small waists and firm asses. My turn offs are the opposite, though beauty is only a light switch away.

Hello my name is wankerwitson and I do so enjoy this forum so much indeed that I am going to become an internet big deal right here in this very forum (yes this one right here) I hope this is agreeable with all if so we can except some hijinks and fine larks that all take place in your very own computer screen whilst you look at it using you eyes or braille or whatever fine method you employ to engage in discourse with people who may not really exist.

If winker stays, I will probably stay.

So, I might write some serious videogame posts here, and maybe I'll participate in some hijinks too, but don't worry, I'll make sure it is a good and useful time for everyone if and when I do decide to post outside of the refugee encampment!

Oh, and I don't really know what videogames I like. It is hard for me to tell sometimes. But sometimes I get excited about ideas and things and stuff like that, usually related to videogames, but also sometimes about social situations, and even movies sometimes, and then I write long crazy posts about them, so there you are!

hey someone with part of the READ.ME. thread, find the thing I said about bored internet chemistry and winker
