Dude, I just realized MySpace has groups of some sort. I always assumed people interacted and found each other by stalking people through links of friend networks but now I see there's something more cohesively evil linking the fabric of everything together!!

In any case, I mention this all because I realized while there is a paltry little something in the way of an Insert Credit group, there is no mention whatsoever of a group for the Gamer's Quarter!

Now I'm not sure how many of you fellows have Myspaces (or will admit to, or want others to have easy access to such personal information in one) but we should at least make one in order to better represent the special interests of those on the space that's entirely mine right?

Y/N/Abort?

I have a myspace account. I've found it super handy, what with having a restless brother and friends still scattered about from rita. You just say when and where, people.

I've just made a MySpace account so I can put up a temporary, free zine page. The problem is, the user controls are so fucking bad I can't figure out how to do anything.

Question! How can Blizzard get this crazy with their layout? Where can I get to "free mode," so I can fuck with my own HTML?

EDIT: Thank you, World of Warcraft, for showing me the way. I will now hack MySpace into something useable.

I think I'm actually in the IC MySpace group, although I haven't really been active in the IC forums or anything for a year or so now.

I say let's go for a TGQ group. It could be fun, and everyone can look at my depressingly emoed-out profile.

Haha, I'm the guilty creator of ze IC MySpace group. Should I make a TGQ one too? Leave it to someone more important?

ABORT ABORT, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD ABORT!

Seriously Persona, do you really hate TGQ that much? Why would you cast our glorious magazine down among the intellectually devoid, gibbering masses? What did it ever do to YOU?!

If you do this, it should have the podcast playing in the background.

It needs zen-chan sprites falling down the screen like rain.

And all the text should be completely transparent, and the columns 4000 pixels wide.

And the background image shoud be a tiled picture of Zangief's flexing buttocks.

Well, a MySpace group isn't really like a profile. You can't jazz it up with a bunch of terrible html. It's more like a miniature, crappy forum. You can add some pictures to the top.

Not entirely true. I've seen some rather interesting group pages...

I'm now going to add everyone I can find.

And make a TGQ group. Curse me later.

Uh, okay. Now I guess everyone needs to join and upload a shitload of images, then tell me how to make zen-chan sprites fall down the screen and put Zangief's ass in the background, as was recommended.

Yep. I'm not sure it's worth that plunge.

Hey, facebook has blogs now!

I'm not willing to make the myspace plunge, either.

However, I am shameless enough to want anybody here on facebook to be my friend. Don't everybody volunteer at once!

I don't understand how there's much of a difference between facebook and myspace, beside the slight educational bent of the former.

Also, am I just the last person alive who doesn't belong to some social networking site?

Can someone explain for me the purpose of Myspace because as far as I can tell it is a bit of an internet turd-pie.

(I think I was probably saying this about livejournal 3 years ago, too.)

I can understand it if you are an unsigned band, because you can embed mp3s on the page. But otherwise?

....

(Ok wait, I thought about it for more than one second and I think I understand it. Tell me if this is right.

So, Blogging was a revolution because it meant that people who hadn't learned HTML could still have a website. The ease of production and the fact that it was free also meant that posts could be more frequent and more throwaway- you didn't have to write the great 21st century article every time. You could just say my cat is sick T_T. Also blogs were more democratic- the gulf between reader and writer was bridged, since everyone reading probably had their own blog and could comment on every post made right away. The author no longer felt special and priviliged. It's a world away from the almost fuedal system we had before, where only individuals like Lowtax and Seanbaby had big websites and everyone who posted in their forum was their minion.

Plus, blogs are very efficiently networked, so there is more chance your blog will be read and more chance of meeting cool new people.

So myspace is even more democratic, since it allows even people who can't be bothered to read or keep blogs an internet prescence. And even if you're not interested in using Myspace there is a benefit of having an appealing Myspace page, because people are more likely to find it, and you can link to all your other shit through it. )

Oh, one more reason to never ever use myspace: News Corp.

(Though if dess is collecting gay/trans sex solicitations with the help of ol' Rupie-pie, I guess I can get behind the mildly subversive nature of that in particular. I'm still staying the hell away though.)
