So I recently found out about Suda 51's new game Heroes and there seems to be a movie out even. This feels more like his next real project than anything else that has come out with his name on it, and it also looks like it is coming out for the Wii, which makes things interesting. Anyways, if you liked Killer 7 I highly recommend checking out the trailer.

This won't probably come out for like 3 more years is Killer 7 is any kind of indication, but I will have my eye on it the whole time.

I can't say I'm fond of the voice acting. killer7's was good, but I'm really not feeling this.

The voices (even the english ones) from Killer 7 got re-dubbed from the Japanese version of the game to the English one. That was a Japanese commercial.

That's interesting. I'd have to hear the voices for the Japanese version of killer7 to know what that implies for the English dub, though.

Also, !

The voice-acting seemed entirely appropriate to the content of the video.

11th best hitman! No WAY!

EDIT: a comment on the aesthetics: the credit roll at the end seemed more accomplished than the in game work. At least; they suggest something modern and maybe even subcultural but the scenes from the game confound that impression.

This really reminds me of Seijun Suzuki's Surreal Assassin films "Branded to Kill" and "Pistol Opera" respectively. Both films are as close as you can get to Killer 7's style, but bare no political ties within the stories. It's narrative is more personal which seems like what Heroes is intending to be.

Also it draws comparisons because of that Assassin ranking, Suzuki used that in both of his surreal assassin films. Also the main characters of both films were ranked three in the system, and had to deal with a plot of other up and comers. Quite interesting really.

That was exactly what I was going to say. The surrealism of both Killer7 and this new game match that of a Suzuki film. By the way, Seijun says Pistol Opera is a loose remake of Branded to Kill.

Watching that trailer kind of makes me want to see Story of Grief and Sorrow, a Suzuki film about woman professional golfer. I'm not sure why. Confused

EDIT: KILLING WITH STYLE

You know, when I was watching HeROes trailer as soon as that girl said "Now you are ranked number 11" Shishio Joe popped into my head. I figured that reference might be a little obscure, but yes, I am hoping for heavy surreal influence on this...

and the smell of rice.

It's like the 80s, but for videogames

We share the same hopes then. Now I am hungry for rice.

Yes the movie is fantastic in a variety of ways. It has some of the best use of color in film I have ever seen, amazing use of surrealism and quite a talented cast. It's not an assassin movie at all really, it's the furthest thing away from El Mariachi for instance. However, it is very stylish, it never under plays that. The cinematagraphy might just be so good, it will make you have sexy thoughts about things you normally dont have sexy thoughts about.

In short, yes it's a very good film.

You kind of have to like his style of movies. It is pretty surreal and non-sensical almost at times. But It is good, just not for everyone.
